Coach Butch,
Dear Butch,
Hey Butch-
Thanks for all your help. Christian made the team.
He had the winning hit in the first game driving in two runs. The coach gave him the game ball.
I am at his second game right now. His first time up he hit a triple.
Again, thank you and I will talk to you soon.
Mark
Butch,
As you are aware, Eric is an extremely dedicated pitcher who has always struggled with his hitting. Through the years, Eric has tried several hitting coaches and frankly that all seemed to have the same approach. Having watched others teach I assumed that hitting instruction was the same no matter who the teacher was. Watching you work with Eric over the last year has been enlightening. The fact that you evaluate each player to determine the best approach, (to me) is unique.
I appreciate that you take the time to explain the art of hitting in a way that Eric understands. As a former player you appreciate the struggles that kids go through both physically and mentally. It does not go unnoticed that you always give extra time whenever possible. Eric has made strides in the last year and he believes that this is only the beginning of good things to come. Thanks again for your help and dedication.
Sincerely,
Keith Orlean (Eric's Dad)
To whom it may concern,
My son Derek is a junior at St. Dominic High School. As a sophomore he was selected for the All-Catholic League team and was one of 3 sophomores selected from Nassau County to play in the 2008 Empire State Games.
He trained all winter with Mike (Butch) and improved in every area due to the connection he made with Butch. Butch has a unique way of getting to the core of being a great hitter, while connecting with his students. He not only works on the physical part of hitting, but he teaches you how to think as a hitter. This is very rare, as most hitting instructors only focus on the way that they hit when they played the game.
My son is looking forward to continuing his instructions from Butch this fall/winter. He considers Butch a great hitting coach.
Butch will improve any hitter and make a good hitter that much better - Brad Hirsch
