Butch's Biography

 

Michael "Butch" Caulfield, is entering his 10th year as a Division I Assistant Baseball Coach for NYIT. Butch is also the hitting coach for the Bears. Butch Caulfield is currently the president and General Manager for the Long Island Collegians summer baseball program in ACBL. Butch, in the past has also coordinated other summer collegiate baseball programs in the ACBL acting as Director of Player Development for the Nassau Collegiates, and the Hampton Whalers. After graduating from NYIT in 1996 with a degree in Psychology, Caulfield got his start in coaching with the Long Island Tigers, where he successfully developed many collegiate players from Long Island's numerous high schools and led his team to four regional playoff experiences. Since leaving the Tigers, Butch joined the Long Island Whales, a youth organization, in charge of baseball operations and clinics. Caulfield currently works with the Long Island Hitmen both as a coach and director of player personnel. He continues to run private hitting lessons, clinics, and winter workouts. Caulfield also instructs at New York Baseball Academy as the hitting specialist.  
 
Along with coaching and private lessons Butch Caulfield also holds a baseball blog on Superior Bat Company’s website as well as designed numerous hitting tools for the company. He has written many articles that have been published in various publications including, New England Baseball Journal, Sandlot Magazine and Collegiate Baseball.
 
Besides Butch’s career in baseball he also makes time for raising money for Lupus in memory of his brother Ryan. As president of the Ryan T Caulfield Foundation (RTC), a nonprofit organization, Butch has organized with the help of his board, many special events to aide in the battle against this horrible disease.  The Foundation sponsors the RTC Grand Slam Challenge, where high school seniors from Nassau and Suffolk Counties compete in an exceptional senior game as well an annual golf outing.
